Special Needs Animals
SENIOR ANIMAL CARE PROGRAM:
The Humane Society has been taking in a large number of senior cats and dogs recently. This is due to a number of reasons including the enomoy and health issues with their owners. These poor animals have lived their whole lives in the same environment and find themselves with no owner and no place to live. We are committed to helping these animals live out the rest of their lives in comfort. We do not turn any animal away because of their age…but we know that they do not do well in a shelter environment.
There are several ways you can help the senior animals that we have so that their last days are comfortable and they are taken care of. Many of these animals may have health issues due to their age that need to be resolved and your monetary donations can help to provide them with the veterinary care that they need. After their health is taken care of, they are placed in a foster home. If you are interested in possibly fostering a senior animal, please call the shelter to arrange a meeting.
Some of our senior animals that need a place to go:
Lilly:
LILLY HAS FOUND HER FOREVER HOME!!!!!
Tawny:
Tawny is a 9 year old V-point Siamese who needs to find a place to call home. This beautiful guy is a large kitty, weighing 22 pounds!! He does not like other animals and would do well in a quiet household.
Sparkie:
Sparkie is a pointer hound that was found running through Highlands Hammock State Park. A good samaritan found him and brought him to us. He was extremely skinny and shy when he first came in. The doctor looked at him and said that Sparkie is going blind. He can still see some but will be completely blind some day. Sparkie will need to go into a home with a family who understands his condition and will give him a forever home for the rest of his life. He is still a friendly, fun and playful dog who loves to go for walks. If you have room in your heart and home for Sparkie, please call the shelter for more information.
